Step by step to insert a DABADA™ female external catheter
step 1
Stay comfortable! FEC can be placed while lying on your side or on your back.
If you turn the wick to the side after placing it, check that the wick is moving or not moving.
step 2
Begin by aligning the FEC so that the top of the wick (the end connected to the tube) is aligned with the top of the pubis. This helps guide deployment. If the wick is too high or too low, it may not be able to catch urinated urine and become wet.
Please refer to the listing image.
step 3
Start on the floor, spread your glutes (hips) and place the FEC snugly between your hip muscles. This helps keep the wick in place.
Bending the wick slightly before placing it will help it better fit the anatomical structure.
step 4
Next, separate the inside of the labia minora. Press FEC tightly between pubic bone and labia minora. The labia minora and buttocks hold the FEC in place together, so make sure they fit snugly between them.
Make sure the vents at the top of the wick that affect suction and can get wet are not blocked.
Tips for success
The first few nights can help keep the FEC in place until you wear fishnet underwear or get used to the layout. Leaks may be possible until an anatomically appropriate layout is found.
